Kitsap Transit will receive $1.2 million for the design of an all-electric, zero-emission fast ferry demonstration vessel and its shoreside charging infrastructure.

The federal funding comes from the Federal Transit Administration’s Passenger Ferry Grant program.

In the 2000s, Kitsap Transit took on a fast ferry research project, upgraded it’s Worker/Driver fleet and moved into new digs in downtown Bremerton.
