New ORCA system launched May 16

Kitsap County residents can use new ORCA vending machines at transportation centers around the county.

It’s finally here!

The new ORCA system launched May 16, ushering in a host of exciting improvements for transit riders around the Puget Sound. Don’t worry, your existing ORCA cards will continue to work, but the new system offers a bunch of convenient features, including:

  • A new website and mobile app

  • The ability to instantly load value and products to your account (no more waiting 48-72 hours!)

  • More retail locations where you can buy an ORCA card (starting this summer)

  • Better account management tools (like managing multiple cards)

And for the first time, Kitsap County residents will have access to vending machines where you can buy an ORCA card, add ORCA product/E-purse value, and check your balance! It’s important to note that existing ORCA users don’t need to get a new card — you can keep tapping your card like normal.

Here’s a quick checklist to help you get started:

  1. Create an account

Go to myORCA.com and click “Sign Up” to create an account! From there you can buy a new card, link your current card, and purchase E-purse value or transit passes. Watch this helpful YouTube video on how to create an account

2. Download the app

Download the myORCA app on the Apple App Store or Google Play! Sign in and access your account history and balance whenever and wherever you need to.

Fun fact: In the first week since launch, there have been over 100,000 visits to the new myORCA website, and the mobile app has been downloaded more than 23,000 times!

3. Add value

There are several easy ways to add value to your ORCA account. If you’re at your computer, you can visit myORCA.com, sign-in and click on which card you want to add value to. From there, you can add between $5 and $400 of E-purse value, or buy a regional or agency-specific transit pass. You can also add value from the smartphone app while you’re on the go!

Still confused? This video explains the process in detail.

You can also buy or reload a card in person. Check out this handy map for all the vending machines, retail and customer service locations in Kitsap.

4. What card do you need?

If you think you qualify for a reduced fare ORCA card (Youth, Senior, Disabled, ORCA Lift), check out this page to find your best ORCA fare. Remember: all current cards still work with the new system, so you don’t need to get a new card.

5. Ride Transit!

Ready to go? Once you’ve got your card and loaded value, you’re ready to ride transit!
