Kitsap Transit adjusting bus, ferry schedules for winter service change

Kitsap Transit’s winter service change will go into effect Nov. 28.

With this change, we’re adjusting the timepoints on several routes to more accurately reflect when buses arrive and depart at certain stops. It also includes map updates to several routes on Bainbridge Island and tweaks to timepoints on our local foot ferries and associated bus service.

Timepoints show when the bus will arrive at certain stops on the route map.

On Route 24 specifically, we’ve changed which timepoints are listed in our schedules. It’s important to note that stops on Route 24 are NOT being removed.

Our schedules are written to help riders estimate when their bus will arrive at a certain location. To do that, we use stops and timepoints.

Stops are all the marked spots along a route where our buses stop to pick up and drop off passengers.

Timepoints are the stops – listed in the column headers on our schedules – that are used to show when the bus will arrive at certain spots on the route map.

We don’t list every stop in our schedules. Riders can estimate when their bus will arrive at their stop by looking at the timepoints before and after their stop.

With this change, Route 24 riders will see different timepoints on their schedules. You’ll need to familiarize yourself with the new timepoints on either side of your stop.

For example: “15th Street and Callow Avenue” will no longer be listed in the header column on the Route 24 schedule. Instead, we will list “Callow Avenue and 11th Street.” You can still get on the bus at 15th and Callow.
