Title VI survey: Your chance to weigh in on Kitsap Transit’s services

Last week, we launched an online survey asking Kitsap Transit riders how they use our services.

Bear with us – we understand most people don’t like to spend their time taking surveys. But this one is really important, as your responses will help inform how we provide public transportation in an equitable way.

We’re holding a drawing for two $100 grocery gift cards for riders who complete the survey. To be entered in the drawing, you must be 18 years or older and be a resident of Kitsap, Mason, Jefferson, Clallam, Pierce, King or Snohomish counties.

What is Title VI? Why does it matter?

Title VI is a federal law – part of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 – that prohibits discrimination on the basis of race, color or national origin in any program or activity that receives federal funds or other federal financial assistance.

As a public agency, Kitsap Transit is required to review its Title VI program every three years. During a significant update in 2016, Kitsap Transit heard that riders wanted more inclusive translated documentation. As a result, we now provide translations upon request in Spanish and Tagalog of our Quarterly Community Meetings, special meetings and select publications.

This survey is a critical component of our 2022 Title VI update. We're asking you to tell us how long you've been riding Kitsap Transit; where you ride to and from; how you pay fares; where else you wish you could ride on transit; and a few more questions.

We are committed to providing public transportation in a nondiscriminatory manner and giving everyone an equal opportunity to provide comment in the decision-making process. You can help us by taking this short survey and spreading the word to your fellow riders!

Our survey closes at 11:59 p.m. on April 9. It only takes about five minutes to fill it out. Thank you!
