Silverdale Transit Center opening: Learn how your bus route will change this summer

This summer, Kitsap Transit will make significant changes to our routed bus service to coincide with the opening of our new Silverdale Transit Center (STC) on Ridgetop Boulevard. We put the proposed route changes out to the public last month, asking for feedback ahead of a public hearing at the regularly scheduled Board of Commissioners meeting on May 7.

We closed the online feedback form on April 10*, to give our staff time to review and respond to the comments we received. Based on that public input, we’ve revised our proposed route changes.

*It’s not too late to comment! The public comment period is open through May 6 at 4:00 PM. See below for instructions on how to submit your feedback.

Revised service changes

  • Route 332–Poulsbo/Ridgetop will maintain service on Ridgetop Boulevard, which was planned to be cut in the original proposal. The public strongly opposed removing service from Ridgetop.

  • The new proposal adds a new route, Route 331–Poulsbo/Myhre, which will travel between STC and the North Viking Transit Center via Myhre Road, Silverdale Way and Viking Way.

  • Route 333–Silverdale/Bainbridge, which was also planned to be cut in the original proposal, will be maintained. The route will leave from the new STC and will not operate along Bucklin Hill Road or Randall Way.

  • Route 338–Gateway/Bainbridge Express will remain suspended instead of replacing a section of Route 333.

Other service changes and Sunday service

Several other Kitsap Transit routes will be modified as part of our June service change. For a complete list of the proposed changes, visit our Summer Service Change webpage.

Additionally, starting on June 16, Route 8–Bethel, Route 332 and on-demand service will operate on Sundays, serving Port Orchard, Silverdale and Poulsbo. See our Sunday service page for details.

Public Hearing

On May 7, 2024, Kitsap Transit will hold a public hearing at the Kitsap Transit Board of Commissioners Meeting, where riders and members of the public will be able to comment on the proposed changes. The meeting will start at 8:30 AM at the Norm Dicks Government Center in Bremerton.

To be considered at the public hearing on May 7, written and email comments must be received by Jackie Bidon, Clerk of the Board; 60 Washington Avenue, Suite 200; Bremerton, WA 98337 or JacquelynB@kitsaptransit.com no later than 4:00 PM on Monday, May 6, 2024.
