May is National Bike Month! Biking is a great way to commute to work, exercise outside and explore your community. There are several great opportunities to engage with Bike Month and public transit – including the chance to win a free e-bike.

Join a vanpool and be entered to win an electric bike!

New vanpool participants and recruiters will be entered in a drawing to win one of 10 LECTRIC brand e-bikes*. We’ve had four lucky winners so far.

To participate, complete this registration form and send it to Vanpool@KitsapTransit.com. Incomplete forms or submissions received after the deadlines listed below will not be eligible for that drawing. If you have questions about the drawing, email Vanpool@KitsapTransit.com.

Be sure to submit your form before the May 16 and June 13 drawings for a chance to win.

Use Kitsap Transit + your bike

Bikes and public transit go great together! Our routed buses are equipped with easy-to-use self-serve bike racks. Learn how to use them below:

Our local ferries and fast ferries also accept bikes! Each fast ferry route can accommodate a different number of bikes.

The Bremerton Fast Ferry has 12 exterior hanging bike racks, which are filled on a first-come, first-served basis. The current design of the bike racks (each with inside openings of 2.25") makes it impossible to safely secure bikes with fenders, disc brakes, or balloon tires. Bicycles that do not fit safely in the bike rack will not be allowed on the vessel, but you can test if your bike will fit using the testing rack on the gangway.

Bikes under 100 pounds are allowed on the Kingston and Southworth Fast Ferry! Just make sure they fit safely inside the standing bike racks, and don’t block pathways or doorways.

We also have bike storage options across the county! You can see all of our bike storage options here.

The Bainbridge Island Bike Barn offers 79 indoor and 33 outdoor storage hooks and 48 bike lockers. During the summer months, there is an on-site service vendor who can provide minor bike repairs, rentals and cycling accessories for sale.

Check out the Kitsap Electric Vehicle and Bike Expo

On May 20, join Kitsap Transit at the Kitsap Electric Vehicle and Bike Expo on Bainbridge Island. Learn more about these low- and no-emission transportation options, take a tour of a KT electric bus, and enjoy food and live music!

For more info, visit the event page on Sustainable Bainbridge’s website.

*To qualify for the e-Bike drawing, new Vanpool members must ride in their Vanpool for a minimum of 10 trips a month. Participants must be 18 years old or older to qualify. These promotions only apply to riders who have not participated in a Kitsap Transit Vanpool in the last six months.
