Everything you need to know about the new ORCA retail network

Good news, Kitsap Transit riders! Starting today, ORCA cards will be available at more stores across Kitsap County. Read on if you purchase or reload your card at a retail location!

What’s changing?

Starting today, ORCA cards will be available at more retail locations. This is the first step in a larger rollout that will ultimately result in more than double the current number of stores across Puget Sound.

Where can I buy or reload my ORCA card?

There are 11 stores in Kitsap County where you can purchase an ORCA card: Albertson’s in Port Orchard, Fred Meyer in Port Orchard and Bremerton, and Safeway in Port Orchard, Bremerton, Silverdale, Poulsbo, Kingston and Bainbridge Island. Mason County riders can pick up an ORCA card at the QFC in Belfair.

SAAR’s Super Saver Foods and the Food Market at Kingston no longer participate in the ORCA program.

To find the store closest to you, check out this handy map! The ORCA team has scheduled several in-store events to answer questions about the new changes. More details about the events are available on the Headways’ Events page or myORCA.com.

Do I need a new ORCA card?

It depends. The classic blue and Regional Reduced Fare Permit (RRFP) ORCA cards will still work on transit, at vending machines, online at myORCA.com and with the myORCA app. However, if you reload at Safeway or Albertson’s, you’ll need to buy a new black or reduced fare ORCA card. For more info, visit info.myORCA.com/retail.

If you use an ORCA LIFT, Senior or Disabled RRFP card, you are eligible for a free card replacement! These replacements are available at Kitsap Transit’s Customer Service Office at the Bremerton Transportation Center. The Customer Service Office is open from 6:00 AM to 7:00 PM Monday through Friday and 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM on Saturdays.

You can continue to buy and reload black ORCA cards with cash at stores, vending machines and customer service locations. The only retail outlets that can reload the classic blue ORCA cards are Fred Meyer and QFC.

New ORCA cards!

You may have seen the new black ORCA cards making the rounds on social media – they are officially available! You can find the newly branded cards at ticket vending machines across Kitsap County or at retail locations and customer service offices. You can also purchase one online at myORCA.com; riders who buy a card online may experience a 2-3 week delay in receiving their card.
